About Still in the Loop

A source-tracked, human-reviewed AI newsroom that shows its work. Agents assist; a human journalist edits and approves. Nothing publishes without review.

What we do

Still in the Loop covers the AI industry through the lens of power, products, policy, developers, users, labor, compute, safety, media, and institutions. It is skeptical but not cynical, source-first, and willing to say when something is not yet known.

The premise is simple: AI can surface the news, but a human journalist decides what matters — with sources, context, and a visible review trail. This is not an auto-blog or a content farm. It is agent-assisted, human-reviewed journalism that shows its work.

How we operate

Agents draft, humans publish
Agents can monitor sources, summarize what changed, and draft briefs. They do not publish. Nothing reaches the public site without a human journalist reading and approving it.
Sources before takes
Every story is built from primary sources — company posts, filings, release notes, research — and links back to them. We say plainly when something is reported but not yet confirmed.
AI involvement is visible
Each article carries an AI-use label and a review trail. We show where an agent helped and where a human edited. No hidden automation, no AI passed off as a person.

Worth watchingOn the tracking board; may or may not become a story.
Human reviewedA human journalist read and approved this.

What we track

The News Feed starts with this Tier 1 list: official company blogs, release notes, research posts, changelogs, and press rooms. The feed page shows automated raw signal; this list explains the source base.

Who's behind this

Trevor Brown, founder and editor of Still in the Loop

Still in the Loop is built and edited by Trevor Brown — an investigative journalist, developer, and data visualizer. He spent 15-plus years chasing public records and holding power accountable across Oklahoma, Wyoming, Indiana, and Virginia, from statehouse coverage to data-driven investigations that changed state policy.

Now he builds production web applications that turn complex data into clear, usable tools — from financial-disclosure trackers and congressional dashboards to news monitors processing hundreds of thousands of records. Still in the Loop sits at that intersection: investigative reporting, data visualization, and modern web development, applied to the AI industry.

And about the em dashes — yes, there are a lot of them, and no, that isn't a tell that a bot wrote this. Editors have been yelling at him about his dash habit for over a decade. Look up the byline. The machine picked it up from writers like him, not the other way around.
